Corporate Compliance Officer/Legal Executive

Edwin F. Hunter III is an attorney at Hunter, Hunter & Sonnier (APLC) in Lake Charles, Louisiana. In 2004 he graduated cumm laude from Tulane School of Law in New Orleans and received a certificate of specialization in Civil Law. His practice includes corporate law, contracts, oil & gas, and international law. Additionally, he is a director of the Southwest Louisiana Community Foundation and the Louisiana Young Lawyer's Association representative to the Louisiana Law Institute based in New Orleans.

Three days after completing the Louisiana bar exam in the summer of 2004, Mr. Hunter began working at Hunter, Hunter & Sonnier (APLC) and immediately took over all matters regarding the representation of Oceans Healthcare, L.L.C. and Oceans Behavioral Hospital of Lafayette, L.L.C., two start up entities formed the preceding month by T. Jason Reed and Nick Guillory. Mr. Hunter prepared much of the early formation documentation and vendor contracts for the two young entities and was instrumental to the early success of Oceans Healthcare and the first hospital under its management.

An officer of Oceans Healthcare and several of the mental health facilities managed by Oceans Healthcare, Mr. Hunter is now the corporate attorney and compliance officer for Oceans Healthcare. Mr. Hunter's tasks include negotiating, drafting, and approving all third party contracts, investigating concerns of hospital staff and patients, gate-keeping and memorializing all board meeting minutes, and handling or overseeing commercial litigation. Mr. Hunter maintains full independence from other officers and employees of Oceans Healthcare as he reports and answers directly to the Board of Directors of Oceans Healthcare.
